healthy masala oats upma recipe

Hi everyone ,

Ingredients
for roasting oats:
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats / rolled oats
  • ½ tsp oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
other ingredients:
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 2 dried red chillies
  • 8 to 10 cashews
  • 1 inch ginger, chopped
  • 1 green chilies, chopped
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • ½ carrots, chopped
  • 6 french beans, chopped
  • 5 curry leaves
  • ¼ cup green peas
  • few coriander leaves, chopped
  • 2 cups water (or as required)
  • 1 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt as required
Instructions
roasting oats:
  1. firstly, heat ½ tsp oil in a pan and add 1 cup of oats and a pinch of turmeric powder.
  2. fry them till they turn crisp.
preparing upma:
  1. firstly, in a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil. add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp urad dal and 2 dried red chilli. wait till the mustard seeds crackle.
  2. now add few cashews / groundnut and curry leaves.
  3. add finely chopped onions. saute till they turn pinkish.
  4. then add chopped chillies, carrots, beans.
  5. also add green peas and cook for a minute or two.
  6. then add the roasted oats. stir lightly.
  7. add salt, sugar, turmeric powder as required.
  8. then sprinkle 1 to 2 cups of water slowly.
  9. on a low flame, steam the oats upma covering with a lid for 5 to 6 minutes.
  10. furthermore, add chopped coriander leaves and squeeze some lemon juice.
  11. finally, oats upma is ready.
