5 things you do that damage your teeth

Hi everyone,

Your pearly whites are irreplaceable, especially once you have lost your baby teeth. So instead of regretting later, it's best to take good care of them today. These are some things you are probably doing on a daily basis that are harming your teeth and gums.

1. Using your old brush

When was the last time you changed your brush? You should not use an old toothbrush for long as it will have harmful bacteria that can lead to infections. Some even suggest changing toothbrush after a bout of cold. Moreover, old toothbrushes are mostly ineffective because the bristles degrade over time.

2. Opening packets or bottles?

Many people use their teeth to open a pack, tear off tags from clothes or even sometimes open bottles. This is extremely harmful for your teeth and gums both. Teeth are just for chewing food, not to be used as tool.

3. Brushing right after eating

Some people think that brushing right after eating is good for the teeth. In reality, it is not! This makes you brush the acid into your teeth, which may erode your enamel. So wait for at least 30 minutes after a meal.

4. Eating too much sugar

Sugar is one of the biggest culprits of damaged teeth and gums. It leads to bacteria that produce acids and if this stays longer in your mouth, the acid will start acting on your tooth enamel leading to serious oral issues.

5. Tobacco

This goes without saying that tobacco is the biggest reason of tooth decay. Chewing tobaccco is in fact worse than smoking. It cuts blood supply to the gums and excess can even lead to oral cancer.

6 Things That Won’t Be Trending in 2017

Hi everyone,

We always want to look fashionable, but keeping up with fashion trends is almost impossible. Bright Side introduces to you the main trends of 2017...and it’s up to you to choose whatever you like the most!

1. Several necklaces instead of chokers
It’s time to say goodbye to chokers and start choosing metal necklaces. Current trend: combining several pieces of jewelry. For example, you can wear one big piece and combine it with two small ones.

2. Combining pieces of jewelry instead of wearing jewelry with spikes
It’s better to put away your pieces of jewelry with spikes until they’re trending again. Instead, you can wear a couple of pieces of jewelry that are different in color and texture.

3. Natural look instead of contouring
A natural skin tone with a slightly wet effect comes to replace contouring. Instead of different highlighters, it’s better to purchase powder of a natural color and use it when necessary.

4. Loose waves instead of tight curls
Beachy loose waves are going to replace tight curls in 2017. Luckily, we won’t have to overheat our hair with curling irons and fix it with a huge amount of hairspray anymore.

5. Velvet instead of denim
Velvet clothes come to replace denim. They give elegance, glamour, and chic to the image of every woman. Clothes including satin, leather, tweed, and suede are the best to combine with velvet. It’s also better to choose one matte thing and one with a slight sheen when combining clothes of different textures with velvet items.

6. Lingerie-style dresses instead of bandage dresses
Bandage dresses are out of fashion too. They are replaced by lingerie-style dresses that are no less eye-catching and daring. Such dresses can correct the silhouette as well as bandage dresses do.

4 Common Period Problems and Their Solutions

Hi everyone,

PMS or premenstrual syndrome is the term commonly associated with most problems that we face during those days of the month. It includes a variety of physical and mental symptoms that start occurring from about 2-14 days before the start of periods. The symptoms include acne, breast swelling and tenderness, trouble sleeping, fatigue and the scariest of them all – mood swings! Other problems include cramps, cravings, and irregular periods and so on.

1. Acne

Hormone levels amp up oil gland production during this time. You can prevent acne by switching to a low glycemic index diet. Include lots of spinach and other greens in your diet. Do not go harsh on your skin with those scrubs and wipes. Stick to a regular CTM routine.

2. Trouble sleeping

If you are having trouble sleeping, go for a soothing drink before going to bed. You can use a sleep-inducing spray or even dab some essential oil under your nose to get a tranquil sleep!

3. Mood swings

Do you feel like crying one moment and laughing like crazy the very next? Well honestly, that happens to me most of the time. The culprit is hormonal fluctuations that occur between ovulatory and menstrual phases. Add more leafy greens and whole grains to your plate and take a calcium-rich diet. Do regular yoga or simple stretching. Physical activity can lift moods and improve depression.

4. Cramps

Most women face lower back pain and leg pain during this time. The solution is exercise, even if that is the last thing you would want to do on your periods. Yoga and stretching help combat much of this pain.
If pain strikes, take the help of heating pads or hot water bags.
