Ingredients
for cheese balls:
- 1 cup grated cheese, mozzarella / cheddar
- ¼ cup sweet corn, fresh / frozen
- 1-2 potato, boiled and pealed
- 1 tsp corn flour
- ½ tsp chaat masala
- ½ tsp pepper, crushed
- salt to taste
other ingredients
- ½ cup corn flour
- 3 tbsp maida / all-purpose flour / plain flour
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- oil for deep frying
Instructions
- firstly, in a large mixing bowl, take sweet corn. you can also use boiled sweet corn.
- furthermore, add shredded cheese.
- also add 1½ - 2 boiled potatoes.
- then add corn flour. this helps to bind together and remove extra moisture.
- furthermore add chaat masala, crushed pepper and salt.
- now mash the potatoes well and combine with cheese.
- mix well together to form a dough. if its watery, then add a tsp more corn flour.
- furthemore, grease your hands with oil and prepare small balls.
- roll it into corn flour to remove extra moisture.
- then further dip it into maida paste. to prepare maida paste mix 3 tbsp of maida in ¼ cup of water.
- after that, roll it on bread crumbs. i have used panko bread crumbs for crispy outer layer.
- further, freeze all the balls in freezer for about 30 minutes. this helps to prevent cheese from oozing out while deep frying.
- after 30 minutes, deep fry the corn cheese balls on medium flame.
- stir occasionally for even browning.
- fry the cheese balls till they turn golden brown.
- furthermore, once they turn golden brown, drain the balls on to kitchen towel to remove excess oil.
- finally, serve cheese balls immediately with masala chai.
